Those were fun, Kevin. The tie: a collaboration of sorts with Paul Klee, moving a tie-shaped template over a Klee image. Have ordered a few different ones via Zazzle.

Hi @paulsolman it's been some years, but I still think fondly of your visits to my classroom (virtually) in Warsaw and Beijing. I'm glad to see you're still at it I was watching your segment recently and was wondering about your tie. Is it a brown trout? Looks a little fishy

Ah, voice recognition again hard of hearing: Renewed push to sign on high schools and hs teachers or principles for what's been called "America's best kept secret" and the best antidote to polarization in the country: the American Exchange Project. americanexchangeproject.org

Thanks, Paul. While your story is about USA, there are lessons to apply in Canada as well. A few years ago, I dealt with bailiff here who plays dirty, knowingly putting my house up for sale without serving my bank, nor did realtor he works with follow law on listing my property.

Meant material gains, but perhaps should have added the adjective.
Don Wolt@tlowdon

@NewsHour @paulsolman Please explain why you frame mothers leaving the workforce to stay home & raise their young children as "erasing gains."

It's detestable to respond politely to your tweet?
Buddy the cat@BuddythecatX

@paulsolman @NewsHour I am going to point out, once again, that this thread has been edited by PBS or Paul Solman, a practice in line with PBS's techniques, which are, in my opinion, detestable.

The more I think about it, the more I tend to disagree with you about this. I don't think there's any judgment implied when most people use this term, even though I don't use it. It could just be every day people as opposed to those who think they're high and mighty, no?
Buddy the cat@BuddythecatX

@paulsolman @NewsHour Well a lot of people use it; I don't think they understand what they are revealing about their worldviews.

@BuddythecatX @NewsHour Ah, I just went back and read the introduction. That's where the term is used. But it isn't a term I remember using and I certainly didn't use it in the story that followed the introduction.

@paulsolman @NewsHour Paul, The term "everyday Americans" implies that there are other kinds of Americans. It divides Americans and necessitates Marxism, socialism, and class-hostilities. All men are created equal; the opportunity to excel - the pursuit of happiness - remains open to everyone.

The national debt has grown to more than $37 trillion. There is mounting concern in some quarters over how soon the ballooning debt will impact the lives of everyday Americans. As PBS News Hour's @paulsolman explains, simply paying the interest on that debt is already swallowing a larger portion of the federal budget.

@BuddythecatX @NewsHour I still don't quite see your point, but the fact is we didn't use the term in our script or even in the introduction to the story.

@NewsHour @paulsolman "Everyday Americans" is a detestable term. Why do you use it? Do you understand the implications? And you think you're smart...

@Petei123 Our operations are run by a 26-year Marine Lt Col who helped run Special Forces deployments. Our chief of staff: career Navy officer. We're in far more Red states than Blue. Almost every kid from the American exchange program says they're grateful because "I live in a bubble."

@paulsolman I have been outside the American "Bubble" growing up, military and WW supply chain mgt. The America outside that "Bubble" is an illiterate diseased mud hut dystopia. American children need to grow up knowing they are the unequaled best from the finest culture, proven for 250 yrs.

This has nothing to do with DEI, Pete (is it?). We're lowercase D:diversity of every kind. If you watch the videos linked on our website, from places including FOX&friends, you'll see that there's no agenda besides getting kids to learn about the America outside their oen bubble.
SCIENCE-FACTS@Petei123

@paulsolman @NewsHourExtra @NewsHour 😄After 60 yrs of DEI, are you that naive? Lib Media-Educ trainings are layered with WashDC/NYC/Inner City bias. We all know what Kory Loyola means, 1) She'll chose the questions, 2) Frame them for her benefit and then 3) We listen to her ignorant explanation. Here is Science>

I did stories about both a few years ago but you're right, we should've mentioned what's happened to their price in comparison. So I just looked it up and it seems both of them have risen in price by noticeable amounts but not nearly as much as beef. In the past 12 months.

@Petei123 @NewsHourExtra @NewsHour But don't we all have more in common than divide us? And shouldn't we all visit parts of America outside our own bubbles? That is quite literally all that the American exchange project is about. Not one single particle of propaganda

Tweets like this raise doubt the Tweeter has watched the story, in which Beth Akers of the conservative AEI argued forcefully for repayment, & even one of the debtors agreed. Or just reflex anger that undermines civil discourse? Reminds me to reread Carol Tavris' book Anger.

Apologies for almost never posting, but reading Mary Renault's The Last of the Wine about Athens in the time of Socrates, how about this sentence: "half the world's troubles come from men not being trained to resent a fallacy as much as an insult."
