@HaloedPayload In my time I have lived in Abingdon, Hounslow and Wolverhampton. How 4 places + 15 others adds up to thirty is a strange statement that I doubt anyone in Abingdon, Hounslow or Wolverhampton would come out with.

Marriage advice needed. Just used the downstairs loo. I changed the roll this morning and note that for the 3rd time in a row, Mrs G has flipped the loo roll from the orientation I set so that the loose end is at the back. 40+ years of marriage. What do you advise?

@CJAPieters There is a saying "if you knew what you were doing, it wouldn't be research". That might be an overstatement, but almost by definition if you know the result in advance it is not research. Adapting as you go along is an indicator of quality research.

really suffering from extreme frustration with my PhD structure; had to shuffle things around so much that I'm writing a whole new chapter than the one envisioned; this is sooooooo fraught. (But also, as I clock off: it is tomorrow's problem).

Odd question...I collect bookmarks and they are currently stored in a couple of bags. Any ideas how I could store them so they could be looked at? I probably have about 150+ and all materials and shapes so space is a priority.

@AlanMartin32A @BulkyBalkan74 @KateEMcCann The money is there, but it is being used to pay mega-bonuses to the wealthy, to increase dividends to share holders etc. Demands to increase wages by say £40 per week after not having had any pay increase for several years are hardly extortionate.

@AcademicChatter @PGoggolidou To pass your PhD EXAM you need to have written and defended a thesis which summarises and advances knowledge. In doing this you will have developed various various research and personal skills which advance YOU as a person. There is more to a PhD than the exam at the end of it

@Edda_Nicolson The quality of the research should always be paramount. I have come across too many people who seem to believe that the format of a footnote is more important than its content, that the relevance of a reference is irrelevant provided it is correctly formatted.

Listen. Can we all not just collectively agree that spending hours on making footnotes completely uniform is just a really big waste of time? I really do feel like we are holding ourselves hostage to some seriously arbitrary rules for absolutely no reason.

I have just changed my twitter handle to @PaulWilsonZIM. I am hoping that this won't cause any problems. The "ZIM" stands for Zero Inflated Modelling. I am only too happy to explain what this is to people.
