Oh. I have never heard of Jon Fosse, winner of the 2023 #nobelprizeliterature. I'm reasonably literate. I'm trying to write a novel, FFS. So, what's gone wrong? Am I just ignorant, or do we Brits just habitually ignore the rest of the world?

* LINDISFARNE CHILDREN’S PRIZE * In addition to our adult crime fiction writing prize, the Northern Photography Prize and the Northern Film Prize, I’ve had it in mind for a long time to found a children’s writing prize and I can think of no better time than the present to encourage the younger members of our community to express themselves creatively through writing. With this in mind, our team is preparing to launch the new prize before Christmas and it will be available to primary aged children in the North East, initially, with a tiered prize system. This year’s theme will be TREES, and we hope it will prove educational and inspiring for those children who take part. For any teachers in the region who may find this of interest, please keep looking out for further updates in October. LJ x
