German car exports to China have been collapsing the past few years. Chinese quality improved and they started buying their own cheaper domestic cars. The EU failed to pass the trade deal they agreed to last year. So Trump just increased tariffs 25% on EU manufactured cars. The Germans (BMW, Mercedes, VW) are screaming at their govt. They are getting crushed in China and now about to get crushed in the USA also. German factories are already dealing with electricity prices that are 2x to 3x higher than China or the USA. Their manufacturing is not competitive and being forced to shut down. And at the same time China and USA markets are being closed off to them. The European Union is economically getting crushed right now. Energy prices are out of control and factories are not profitable.

Labour is steering the UK into a bond market meltdown. 🚨 Unions have donated over £28m to Labour since Keir Starmer became leader. Labour have also handed out over £9bn in public sector pay rises to union-led workers, since taking power. That sounds like a bigger story to me, Pippa…

Between 2014 and 2021, China emitted more CO2 in eight years than the UK has since the industrial revolution in 1750, more than 270 years ago. China already produces around 35% of global emissions. And in 2025, they ramped up coal production for the ninth year in a row, hitting almost 5 billion tons. Meanwhile, Britain shut down its last coal power plant in 2024, has wiped out thousands of jobs and has made its energy the most expensive in the world. UK emissions are under 1% of the global total, yet Britons are told, among other things, to cut cattle by 22% by 2035 and 40% by 2050. China expands as Britain sacrifices. This is the game here.

This is really eye-opening, Italy lost two decades. Italians today earn less in real terms than 20 years ago. Seriously, will politicians ever admit that the euro's introduction in Italy was an epic failure, or will they keep pretending nothing happened?

France is not a serious country anymore. How can a country where 1/3 of the population feeds the other 2/3 prosper? France has been adding debt instead of reforming unsustainable structures. This won’t continue forever. Eventually the markets won’t absorb more debt. What then?
