Five years ago today, I celebrated Mass in thanksgiving for my priestly ordination, in my home parish. I have lots of wonderful memories of that day; none more so than this one. @RCStFrancisPG

I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injury caused by the military attack on the Holy Family Catholic Church in #Gaza. I assure the parish community of my spiritual closeness. I commend the souls of the deceased to the loving mercy of Almighty God, and pray for their families and the injured. I renew my call for an immediate ceasefire. Only dialogue and reconciliation can ensure enduring peace!

The Holy Family Church, the only Catholic church in Gaza, was struck by an Israeli shell on Thursday morning, resulting in several injuries, including the parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli. Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, told Vatican News that four people were seriously wounded, of whom two are facing life-threatening injuries. "We must first understand what happened, what must be done to protect our people, seek to ensure that these things do not happen again, and then see what we should do," said Patriarch Pizzaballa. "But certainly we will never leave them on their own." vaticannews.va/en/church/news…

To all you so-called world “leaders” - I hope I’m there on the day of judgement to see your faces - this is nothing but a genocide and history is watching. “Only the sounds of Rachel weeping for her children because they are no more” and they were only queuing for food …… ! 😭
