Today’s loss is completely on Ruturaj Gaikwad. His decisions and performance cost the team the match. He has been out of form for the last 6 matches. Not a single impactful innings, yet he still insists on opening. This feels more like ego or stubbornness than team strategy. When a player is consistently failing, he should consider stepping down the order instead of holding onto the opening spot. Ayush Mhatre was made to run unnecessary quick doubles, which resulted in a hamstring injury. He ignored better options. Players like Urvil Patel, who can attack from the first ball, haven’t even been given a chance. Instead, Matt Short was selected, who is not a natural T20 aggressor. That decision itself was questionable. Sending Matt Short ahead of Dewald Brevis made no sense. It disrupted the batting order and slowed the momentum. Matt Short consumed around 35–36 balls without proper acceleration, which effectively wasted crucial overs. Even an average batter playing at a strike rate of 150 in those balls could have easily helped CSK win the match. Overall, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy decisions were ineffective and lacked clarity. Based on current form and decision-making, he neither looks fit to lead the team nor to open the batting. At this stage, the team management should seriously consider dropping him or at least removing him from key responsibilities. 💯
