The House of the People Impeached Vice President Sara Duterte
I cannot help but be emotional today as I witnessed the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte in the House of Representatives. A front row seat to history.
The overwhelming number of legislators who signed the impeachment complaint reminded me of the fact that no level of popularity can make one exempt from accountability. That no level of orchestrated social media disinformation can deny facts and overwhelming evidence.
Legislators named as prosecutors gave me such confidence that a good case will come out from it, a case that the public can rally behind. A very good case that it is almost impossible not to convict.
As per recent reports, the six articles of impeachment all seem outright and if the Senate will be fair are all irrefutable. 1) Conspiracy to Assassinate President Marcos, First Lady, and Speaker Romualdez 2) Malversation of P612.5 Million in Confidential Funds 3) Destabilization, Insurrection, and Public Disorder 4) Involvement in Extrajudicial Killings (Davao Death Squad) 5) Bribery and Corruption in DepEd and the highlight of them all 6) Unexplained Wealth and Failure to Disclose Assets
I have been pointing out the need to check the SALN and the bank records of the Dutertes. And several reports say that as per the impeachment complaint, Sara Duterte quadrupled her net worth from 2007 to 2017 without legitimate other sources of income. But what should be the highlight is the 2 billion suspicious transactions linked to the joint account of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
In the media forum of the Young Guns last week, one of the prosecutors, Congressman Rodge Gutierrez of 1 Rider Partylist explained that an impeachment proceeding is not bound by the legislative calendar. He further elaborated this by saying that this is a constitutional process and not just an ordinary legislative process.
Perpetual disqualification from office through impeachment, possible anti-terror law case and possible plunder case. To save our country from one Sara Duterte.
WATCH: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2024) vows to push for the expansion of the Bohol-Panglao International Airport to further boost economic growth in the province of Bohol.
Marcos: Since 2018, the Bohol-Panglao International Airport has served as a gateway to the province’s treasures and a driver of economic growth. That’s well and good, but airports must continue to grow alongside the communities that they serve. This is where the 4.5 billion peso BPIA Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project will come in.
We will expand the project in two phases: By 2026, its capacity will increase from two million to 2. 5 million passengers a year. By 2030, we will reach almost four million passengers.
This means we can provide seamless travel to a lot of tourists—which translates to more jobs for Boholanos, especially in the hotel and restaurant industries.
This project is expected to generate fifteen million pesos in annual revenue during its first five years, rising to two hundred million a year by the end of the concession period.
But more than just the revenue, its true success will be the number of lives that it will change for the better in Bohol.
It is a promise to our beloved people that they will be the first to benefit from the continued arrival of tourists and of investors.
The Sandiganbayan said it dismissed the last six ill-gotten wealth cases involving the coco levy fund against the Marcoses, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, and their associates due to "inordinate delay in the proceedings."
