It does little good to have health insurance if there is no place in your community to use it. Residents of many #rural communities in Missouri and other states could lose their #ruralhospitals unless health plans start to pay adequately for services. ruralhospitals.chqpr.org/index.html

Long before a #ruralhospital closes, it may be forced to eliminate important services, such as #maternitycare. This report ruralhospitals.chqpr.org/downloads/Rura… shows that most #ruralhospitals no longer deliver babies, and many of those that still do are losing $$. #ruralhealth #rural

We won't eliminate disparities by merely measuring them or providing small P4P bonuses/penalties. The only way to achieve #equity is to pay adequately for the care each patient needs to improve their #health. That's what patient-centered payment does. #valuebasedcare #vbhc #APMs

Large federal pandemic grants provided temporary relief for small #ruralhospitals, but losses on services will ultimately force them to close. If #rural residents don't force health plans to pay small hospitals adequately, there may be nowhere to use their insurance. #ruralhealth
