If (I said IF) new coaching hires all work out, the SEC could have 8 dominant teams that deserve to make the playoffs every year:
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Florida
Texas
Texas A&M
LSU
Oklahoma
SEC should break off and say:
"We'll do a 16 team playoff, but we're supplying HALF the bracket."
These schools have the largest NIL budgets and the highest team talent levels. They are the perennial powerhouses historically.
Sure, there will be years when injuries occur and one of them falls, but the 8th SEC team that year will still be a damn good team.
The NFL is divided into two conferences that each supply HALF of the playoff teams. That's what the SEC needs to demand.
Let the rest of college football get together to figure out how they want to allocate their 8 spots.
It's the only fair way to determine things if the SEC is going to play 9 conference games and beat up each other every year. The win loss records won't be spotless... but the teams will be far better than some 10-2 G5 or ACC team.
