Mission statement Building a community of advocates that uplifts the voices and needs of people isolated and oppressed by the systematic violence caused by the criminalization and stigma of drug use.

Overdose Prevention Sites not only provide health and social services resources, They Save Lives. Overdose deaths decreased by 67% in neighborhoods with an OPS available. Chicago lost over 2000 lives last year. An OPS keeps people who use drugs alive!!

Great new study in @TheLancetPH, showing a significant decrease in fatal overdoses in the Toronto neighbourhoods surrounding supervised injection sites - a 67 per cent reduction in overdose deaths in neighbourhoods within 500 metres of the sites thelancet.com/journals/lanpu…

The fight for harm reduction is inherently radical—it's about challenging oppressive systems and advocating for the safety and wellbeing of marginalized communities. When it comes to trans and gender non-conforming folks, the stakes are even higher.

The best part of measure 110 was the decriminalization, the very thing being attacked. One of its biggest failures was not creating a public health campaign that focused on destigmatizing drug users. That stigma is now being used by opponents to tear down M110, and it's working

If Portland is the center of a "national controversy", instead of more punitive and carceral measures, how about we provide housing? And safe supply, and overdose prevention sites. More policing by dubious non-profits is not the answer. koin.com/news/portland/…

20 years of fighting for respect, dignity & life-saving services for our community's chronically under-served. The road here hasn't been easy, but today we celebrate everyone who has made #Insite a reality, supporting/advocating/utilizing its services over 20 years. #INSITE20

It was Sept. 14, 2003, when history was made in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside neighbourhood. North America’s first-ever supervised injection site, Insite, opened to the public. #INSITE20 #insitesaveslives #dtes #HarmReduction vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/09/14/can…

Could the multifaceted attack from the state, service providers, media, and far right be a reason that respites have been severely delayed? It's hard to know, but Mountain Beaver House still seems on track to get $1.5m from OHA, per a recent @JPRnews story ijpr.org/health-and-med…

I obtained & am releasing emails showing the police chief, top city staff, & nonprofit execs in Medford, OR coordinated to stop $1.5m of state money from being sent to a peer respite run by Stabbin' Wagon -- a harm reduction nonprofit critical of the city's carceral tactics 1/

@ShelleHamilton It indeed was bungled in a few ways. There was no real public health campaign to destigmatize put forward and services/funding were slow to roll out. All that amidst an overdose crisis, providing perfect fodder for opposition and copaganda.

Measure 110 was a step in the right direction, but there is so much more to be fought for. Decrim helps but only if each person carrying drugs has access to safe supply, and services that genuinely better drugs users lives. There is still much to improve.
