At the courtesy call on His Royal Highness, Etsu Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III, the Etsu of Kwali, #TheAbujaProject team reemphasized the role of traditional institutions in effective local governance via the implementation of #LGautonomy, fiscal discipline and community inclusion.

How do we safeguard #LGautonomy from the abuse culture that permeates governance systems in our country?
Our engagement with the six Area Councils in the FCT has one answer: we must build anti-corruption systems that empower citizens to hold accountable the managers of #LGfunds.
English

Now that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confronted state governors on the financial autonomy of local governments, the collective efforts of #LGautonomy advocates might pay off sooner than later.
But what are the fundamental instruments that must exist before then?
English

Through “#TheAbujaProject: Empowering Communities for Grassroots Impact,” our flagship initiative supported by @ng_youthfund, we are reconnecting grassroots communities with Area Councils in FCT for a meaningful #LGautonomy.
