The Government introduced this 1% COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy in March 2021. The Act said this 1% levy was to “support COVID-19 expenditures” Over 2 years down the line, this levy is still charged on most locally procured goods and services. It’s also charged on almost all imports into Ghana. Dear Government, this levy has outlived its purpose. It’s time to repeal this Act.
