Can we retire Clarendon House now? 4 refusals in 6 starts, 8yo, yes he's still got a high mark but think you've got to take the hint.

If I had anything to do with the horse, I wouldn't be asking Twitter, Matt. In this case, we simply means a collective of people including myself, who think the horse should be retired. I wasn't literally asking Middleham Park to, just using the collective pronoun. Hope that helps.

@joshtoole91 Weirdly has came out the stalls the last twice he's ran abroad, just seems to know when he's in the UK! Wouldn't fancy being an owner having to run him abroad every start for him to actually come out mind

@AntepostValue La Botte is already Australian owned so not sure he'll be "sold" to Australia. They said after Royal Ascot last year he was probably going to end up with Ciaron Maher to run in the Golden Eagle - obviously didn't materialise but would be no surprise if he ended there this year

@ciaranodeorain Majborough won over hurdles in France so wasn't eligible for bumpers so not really fair using him in this

Willie made remarks pre-Cheltenham that one of the reasons why Mighty Park was going down the novice hurdling route was because JP doesn’t really like bumpers Had never really noticed it until he said it but it’s very clear when you look at JP’s current crop of top horses
Ciarán Ó Deoráin@ciaranodeorain

We need to talk about (Irish) bumpers…. Since Annie Power and Don Cossack won the CH & GC in 2016, only Sizing John, Anibale Fly, Marine Nationale, & Brighterdaysahead have started off in an Irish bumper and placed in a Triple Crown race Do we need to rethink bumpers?

@AntepostValue You think press/articles about them refusing to pay out and sending e-mails saying they're going to recover the funds will ENCOURAGE people to play their slots?

I’d say it’s an even money shot for this to be a promo stunt to encourage more people to play their abhorrent machines… …In the hope they can “land a Jackpot” due to a “malfunction”

True, but the bets (and videos) are going to be made anyway. I guess I'm thinking from the view that it is better that it's public knowledge what these bets are than them never seeing the light of day. That said, if a bookie then comes out and says "so and so had this with us, it lost but there'll be no video" I would hazard a guess and say they'd not be top of the list for the next video anyway!

@PearsonsPicks @JamesJohnLovell I get that view but agree with James' original sentiments tbh. There's plenty of clowns about and that's one thing- this fella isn't just a plonker with a selfie stick.

After legal advice I’ve deleted my previous tweet regarding a tipster having a bet with me at Cheltenham. It’s a crazy world we live in when regulated gambling is under such strong scrutiny and content provision goes unchecked.

My take (that nobody asked for) is that there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking the bet or being part of the video etc. Pointing out then that said person did bet a loser that won't see light of day is the good thing in my opinion. It's that kind of thing that I enjoy reading in the bookies comment pieces that AK, Simon Nott and the likes do.

@JamesJohnLovell Fair play for it anyway, James - it's becoming much more widely exposed what the MO is for these lads.

@JordanL_AFC23 You might be right there. Mind you, not sure my old methods would have been much effective this week either, though that is scant consolation right now

Without doubt my worst Cheltenham Festival ever. Absolutely licking my wounds - my drop off from say 18 months ago punting is absolutely mental bad.

@JordanL_AFC23 Yeah I'm in that same boat. I thought I had a plan of improvement for this year and changes that would help fix where I was going wrong but that was generally based on smaller fields, more solid favourites etc. This year been a fair old lottery

@PearsonsPicks Been the same for me, would say from just after the festival last year up to now just don’t think I’m punting how I use to. Had a few decent weeks here and there but can’t put my finger on what I’m doing wrong. Such a mental game

@GeorgesHorses_ @Mathewforthh Yeah so my personal opinion is that the value is getting sucked more and more out of overnight and the market is taking longer to correct. Have tried to tip later to take that into account, but finding more value is closer to the off these days than any time in the morning

@omlettes_ronnie Aye it has and I think that the bookies have made killings tell you how hard its been - main concern is that's usually when I thrive and do have 1 or 2 big winners, but my only winners were short enough favourites and didn't really have many places at all

@PearsonsPicks Tough going all week tbf...fair to say just a couple of double figure winners change the while complection of the week . Ive always hated these four days from a punting angle but to see it so competitive again has been worth it

Yeah I can't really put my finger on it which is the concern. I thought there was a shift towards shorter priced horses due to smaller fields etc, but this year have had a more top end of market focus while still trying to find rags and finding that the medium priced horses have been doing their fair share of winning

@PearsonsPicks Sorry to hear this and hope it turns round for you soon. For reasons I can’t fully explain I think the whip rules had a negative effect on me for a while. Used to back a lot of hold up horses and so many races won now from being prominent.
