PAC's 60's Moments #5 - Star Trek Debuts | Man Lands on the Moon On September 8, 1966, Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek debuted to a national TV audience. Star Trek introduced an audience to twenty-third century thinking, with interplanetary travel and peace on earth.

Stonewall Inn was a safe haven for the LGBTQ and homeless youth in Manhattan, New York. Unfortunately, before 1969, the US sought to “assimilate” or completely eradicate homosexuality. They conducted frequent raids on known gay bars.

Timothy Leary, a clinical psychologist at Harvard University, began his own experiments between 1960 - 1962, focusing instead of “mind expansion” and “personal truth”. Leary was fired from Harvard in 1963, but the possession of LSD did not become illegal until 1968. 5/5

Which allowed her the means necessary to research the first birth control pill. In 1960, the FDA approved the first birth control pill, but it wasn’t until 1965 that married couples were given the right to use it. 2/4
