The Montreal Canadiens have promoted Daniel Jacob to head coach of the Laval Rocket. Jacob was the assistant coach in Laval for the last couple of seasons (his 2nd stint).

@Marner4Hartt I know it’s hard because you’re a Canadian but Demidov didn’t hit the market as an RFA on 7/1 and Carlsson did. That’s THE reason he got $18m/year. There were other suitors lining up. The highest bid wins. Unlike MTL that had ZERO competition and smartly signed him before 7/1

@CanadasLeafs If you want to handcuff the other team or really hope they won’t match, you usually have to sign the player to a ridiculously high number, kind of like the Canes with Kotkaniemi, if you got too low (like the Habs with Aho), it’s pointless.

Je ne paierai jamais 2000 $ par mois, ni même 1500 $ par mois, juste pour me loger. Pas parce que je ne comprends pas le marché. Parce que je le comprends trop bien. Quand se loger coûte ce prix-là, ce n’est plus seulement une dépense. C’est une confiscation de liberté. Un loyer ne devrait pas décider si une personne peut encore vivre dans sa ville. Il ne devrait pas forcer un travailleur à s’exiler loin de son emploi. Il ne devrait pas mettre une famille devant le choix entre un toit, l’épicerie, le transport et la santé. On nous parle d’offre, de marché, d’investissements, de programmes. Mais le résultat mesurable est simple : combien de gens peuvent encore se loger dignement sans y laisser leur avenir? Un logement à 2000 $ par mois n’est pas une réussite économique. C’est le symptôme d’un État qui a laissé le sol, les immeubles et les loyers passer trop loin dans les mains de la spéculation. Le Québec doit reprendre de la maîtrise : logement social, logement hors marché, acquisition publique et communautaire, protection des locataires, construction rapide, loyers réellement payables. Le logement n’est pas une faveur. C’est la base matérielle d’une vie libre. #polqc
