@stevegroves @Heritage 19 Dec 2023, USA uses the criteria agreed by most maritime nations within UNCLOS (tho USA has never ratified its signature) to unilaterally ‘claim’ sovereign rights over its ‘Extended Continental Shelf’ equating to an extra 1 million sq km. Illegal? Illegitimate? Irresponsible?

At least China is still a signatory of UNCLOS, while USA never signed it so should not have access to the mechanisms it offers. Meanwhile China may withdraw cos it conflict with its goal to gain sovereign rights of South China Seas. @Heritage @stevegroves heritage.org/global-politic…

@stevegroves @Heritage That’s my point. US doesn’t have access, yet you suggest it should unilaterally claim an Extended EZ using the criteria conferred on signatories of UNCLOS … while continuing to avoid signing UNCLOS. Sounds like recipe for others to unsign & do the same. Like China soon? Chaos?

0-0 HT Greenland v Turkmenistan = good form but less travel time & more fitness needed. During 6 months in Taasilaq (Greenland, 1989-90) I played with the locals on the small grit-surface pitch, dynamited out of the hillside, lit overhead by the moon & aurora. Onwards, Greenland.

🇬🇱 Greenland's first match against a senior men's national team since 2013 ends in a 5-0 loss to Turkmenistan in Antalya. After three flights lasting eight hours in total, Greenland battled valiantly and kept it goalless at the break but tiredness got to them in the second half.
