I spend about 30 minutes a day prompting AI to give me an answer and two hours weeding out the 9 wrong things out of 10 it replied with. Luckily I have some salt and pepper seasoning on my steak so I can pretty quickly discern what’s useful or not. It’s about as good currently as a 3L with Westlaw access only faster. Meaning: not very good but fast. Still a useful tool but not yet even close to a substitute for a seasoned (grizzled) lawyer. Getting better over time but also more confidently wrong and harder to prompt (a problem generally with the newer models). Too many metaphors in my post.

@mcuban Agree- 1st pass & priv. Most Associates only run QC on that pop for yrs now but “reasoning”LLMs can be used for strategy. Whether it’s DepPrep, settlements, ECA, pleadings, or chronos. I’ve heard of some big law are limiting their summer of assoc programs bc less need for 1st yrs

@mcuban I’m dealing with in AI in the legal space. If AI handles 1st pass review, priv, chrono creation, depo prep, & case strategy, etc. how do jr associates become seasoned litigators? How do review mgrs become strategists? Where does institutional judgment come from 10 yrs later?
