The roles of different metal ions in symbiotic nitrogen fixation have recently been revealed. Based on the framework distinguishing the responses of FUN and NLP to the fluctuating rhizosphere N, we propose the concept of joint regulation of nodule functionality by Zn-Fe ions.

Check out our new study published in Current Biology through collaboration with the Giles Oldroyd group. We discovered chitin signaling is essential for AMF symbiosis and, for the first time, identified a higher order LysM-RLK mutant that blocks AMF colonization in M. truncatula.
