Having already been damaged by bombing in December 1940, on 11th March 1941, Old Trafford took a direct hit from further Enemy action. The main stand, dressing rooms and offices were all destroyed. Club secretary Walter Crickmer had to take up office in the nearby Cornbrook cold stores.
