In South Australia, members of the Legislative Council (Upper House) are elected for 8-year terms. Cory Bernadi, the eternal political grifter and taxpayer trough opportunist - has been elected into the South Australian Upper House as a representative of One Nation for 8 years. He has chosen the path to the upper house for that very reason. He is only 56 years old. He can easily exist on the base salary of $211,250 per annum for 8 years and do practically fk all for that salary AND continue to whine and undermine the SA Labor government from the comfort of his Sky News echo chamber. Bernadi started out in the Liberal party after being parachuted into the federal senate in 2006. He left the liberals in 2017, created a new party, disbanded the new party in 2019 and resigned from the Senate in 2020 before his term expired - which is as interesting as it is erratic. I guess grifters can’t stay away from the trough for too long, however. Especially the easy paths into the senate. Gotta wonder how long he will last with the Hagrid and how long it will be before party tensions, egos, hubris and big mouths collide to create the eternal entertainment of the One Nation implosion.
