I haven't seen anyone else make this known but there's a in-game checklist you are asked to complete by a NPC which I learned after taking a photo of my car and one I was looking for..
As you enter races and other events with other drivers you'll notice a photo sign below the name.
I'm not sure what you even get for completing it but must be worth the effort.
Be sure to drop into Photo Mode and take the necessary shots.
