I understand that telling everyone the entire game is the problem is uncomfortable because it doesn't allow an easy moral crusade or simple policy proposals, but that doesn't make it untrue.
People want villains, easy answers, and panacea solutions to pressing social issues and they simply do not exist. The very things that have made our society collectively so fabulously wealthy (in historical terms) are exactly those things which required us to sacrifice our basic individual happiness to achieve.
I'm not saying what should be done, I am broadly wary of societal engineering in general, but you can't call the symptoms the whole disease and expect to get even close to solving a problem you don't even really understand.

Genuinely thing a lot of the gender slop wars are caused by the sexes thinking the opposite sex is just like them but evil.
Women thinking men are all being catty and gossiping behind their backs. Men thing women are subjecting them to a ruthless competitive hierarchy.

I might be a 'soc con / fisc lib' but my desire for things like universal healthcare is derived more from an old conservative belief in paternalism and the common good than a progressive desire to stop pain and suffering no matter where it occurs.

What both the 'soc lib / fisc con' types and their critics miss is that people can believe in the same policies for different reasons.
Libertarians aren't liberal out of a progressive need to help every minority. They just believe in maximum individual freedom.

There's a trick to it. If you can find the people who won't try to change your mind and aren't interested in changing theirs, you can get interesting discussion from a place of mutual respect.

I think it's just a case of women thinking that men work like they do. Women often have overly high standards for men and often need to learn to temper their expectations with realism .
Most guys I've known have been the reverse. They need to be taught to have standards at all.

The Old Testament is always relevant. And not just for 'gay bad' (there are plenty of verses in the New Testament for that too).
It's relevant cause it shows us how to deal with a brutal and less than ideal world.
