Oceans are life. They're the cradle of our planet, the heartbeat of existence, but right now underneath the waves, destruction is unfolding. Bottom trawling has to stop. Take action: greenpeace.nz/yvpuyh #ProtectTheOceans

MINING FACT: Denniston’s coal isn’t for us – but we’ll still pay the price.   20 million tonnes of coal  50 million tonnes of CO2   Equal to all of New Zealand’s annual emissions – burned offshore.  This coal won’t heat Kiwi homes. It’s exported for overseas for a steelmaking industry which is already transitioning away from traditional coal-fired blast furnaces.   Because this coal is for export, these emissions don't get counted in our official climate targets. We are exporting pollution.  The climate doesn’t care where emissions come from.  And the damage to our environment? That’s ours to deal with – the expensive, toxic pollution and the loss of a priceless ecosystem.  This isn’t just about Denniston.  It’s about setting a precedent that our wild, protected places are up for grabs.  Open-cast mining would destroy this landscape forever.  💔 The climate can’t afford more coal.  💰New Zealanders shouldn’t have to keep paying for mine clean-ups.  🌿 And the natural heritage of Aotearoa shouldn’t be up for sale.  We’ve stood up for Denniston before. It’s time to rise again.  👉 Learn more  f.mtr.cool/oyqffnihui  #StopTheFastTrack #KiwiNotCoal #SaveDenniston #SaveConservationLand #ClimateCrisis

This month, the Rainbow Warrior is visiting Tāmaki Makaurau, to commemorate 40 years since the original Greenpeace flagship was bombed by French government agents in Auckland. Come talk to the crew, find out about the ship’s recent work to protect the oceans, and see this special ship up close! Find out more: greenpeace.org/aotearoa/act/r…

“This bill sets out to achieve exactly what the failed Treaty principles bill aimed to do. The Regulatory Standards Bill is an attempt to eliminate the protections against corporate exploitation provided by the Treaty.” — Ryan Ward e-tangata.co.nz/uncategorised/…

ACT's Regulatory Standards Bill is a dangerous attack on nature and Te Tiriti. It aims to lock ACT’s far-right principles into law, ensuring corporate property and profits trump the public good, environmental protection and our founding document. #nzpol greenpeacenz.typeform.com/to/ZmYqREO3?ut…

Fonterra markets its Anchor butter as ‘grass-fed’, but it's a deception. Fonterra dairy cows are fed almost two million tonnes of palm kernel imported from Southeast Asia every year. Rainforests are being burned, peatlands are being drained, rows of palm trees are being planted in their place, and Fonterra is complicit. Today, we took direct action to stop a shipload of palm kernel from Southeast Asia from being unloaded in New Plymouth. We're done for the day, but the fight goes on. Fonterra must end the use of palm kernel in Aotearoa. #TooManyCows

Awkward! The Agrifeeds sustainability page seems to have gone missing after @GreenpeaceNZ exposed them for including illegal palm kernel in their supply chain.

We stand with Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti to defend Te Tiriti because it’s the right thing to do - but also because it’s inextricably linked to our core mission. Removing Maōri rights is also part of the Luxon Govt’s #WarOnNature e-tangata.co.nz/comment-and-an… #ToitūTeTiriti

Day 9 of our South Pacific Seamounts Expedition brought the best conditions we’ve had since we set off. We’re in the middle of the Tasman, not exactly known for its calm waters, but there’s barely a wave. #ProtectTheOceans greenpeace.org/aotearoa/story…

The Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior has been welcomed back to the Marshall Islands today, marking the start of a six-week mission around the Pacific nation to elevate calls for nuclear and climate justice; and support independent scientific research into the impacts of decades-long nuclear weapons testing by the US government. The return of the Rainbow Warrior marks a significant moment in the shared history of Greenpeace and the Marshall Islands — 40 years since Greenpeace crew evacuated over 300 people from the Rongelap atoll to Mejatto island, after toxic nuclear fallout from the Castle Bravo test rendered their ancestral lands uninhabitable. New Zealanders Bunny McDiarmid and Henk Haazen (photo #3) were crew on the Warrior during the 1985 visit to the Marshall Islands and were there today again, 40 years on. We’re extremely grateful and humbled to be welcomed back by the Marshallese government and community with such kindness and generosity of spirit. Over the coming weeks, we’ll travel around this beautiful country, bearing witness to the impacts of nuclear weapons testing and the climate crisis, and listening to the lived experiences of Marshallese communities fighting for justice. For decades, Marshallese communities have been sacrificing their lands, health, and cultures for the greed of those seeking profits and power. But at the same time, the Marshallese people have been some of the loudest voices calling for justice, accountability, and ambitious solutions to some of the greatest issues facing the world. Greenpeace is proud to stand alongside the Marshallese people in their demands for nuclear justice and reparations, and the fight against colonial exploitation which continues to this day. Justice – Jimwe im Maron. #nuclearjustice #climatejustice #marshallislands #greenpeace #rainbowwarrior #rw40th
