@shopeatsleep It is something like Marvel and Sony. Sony owns the rights to make Spider-Man because they paid for the licensing rights to Marvel. When they need to create a character (ie Spidey), they need to pay Sony. … until they get the rights back from Sony. Same with WB with HP movies

@shopeatsleep Based on what I read was NBC Universal paid for the streaming rights for all of HP movies til 2025. WB, which produces all of HP movies wanted to set up their streaming service called HBO Max wanted to stream their movies. So they have to pay NBC to stream the movies they made
