@PeteButtigieg What I respect about Mayor Pete is his willingness to welcome---rather than shun---those who leave MAGA. We as Americans agree more than we disagree, and are more alike than unalike. We all share many of the same hopes, dreams, fears and concerns.

Leaving MAGA has seen a significant uptick of "Democrats are communists" comments directed toward us. Once MAGA media and politicians run with a talking point (such as "communists"), it's adopted wholesale within the MAGA community. I came to understand after leaving MAGA that the coordinated, multi-decade demonization, dehumanization and vilification of Democrats, liberals, etc., fuel a lot of the addiction to rage and fear within MAGA. I am not defending anyone’s ignorance, but the anti-Democratic propaganda and agitprop have long been effective, consistent and disciplined. This is why I am empathetic toward many in MAGA; we are all susceptible to being influenced.
