Interesting. So the much lauded GAP/GROW makes no difference to outcomes. Haven't read far enough to see if the team looked at IOL rates yet (esp IOL for "big baby" - a common side effect of implementation)

Negative findings from clinical trials are as imp as positive outcomes. Using GAP protocol for identifying babies at risk of growth issues & offering tailored care incl serial growth scans did NOT increase detection of SGA babies. What next? #pregnancy journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/a…

This UK study offers more confirmation that we are not reliably able to know the size of babies in utero (aka fetuses) But we do know how to reduce the rate of small babies, stillbirth and prematurity: #midwiferycontinuityofcare 💜

Despite all these problems, the investigators’ hard work ought to be acknowledged, and interpreted as confirming that introduction of the GAP program and use of customised growth charts can result in a reduction in stillbirths and perinatal deaths. 8/8

Another problem to be considered in the interpretation of this study is the control group, which was not able to maintain 'standard care' during the trial, as the NHS England Care Bundle was being implemented, resulting in a 73 % increase in ultrasound scans. 7/8
