@Apuru_kun The issue with this is balancing the decay with the accelerated nature of in-game time, where for the skill decay to be impactful enough on the experience you basically need characters to start forgetting skills after a day or two. Which ofc opens up a whole can of worms

My favorite solution to this is skill decay; if you don't use a skill often enough to maintain it, you lose it, but regain it back faster than you lost it.
It's realistic, encourages paying for training to maintain skills, and punishes characters that are too versatile.

Two things can be true:
1. Arbitrary class-based systems limit the realistic human potential to change your mind and roleplay an evolving character.
2. The total lack of punishment for changing your mind is also unrealistic, as is lack of recognition of your skills/profession.
