@Portergauge I would kill to see her awkwardly meeting with Baine and Thrall as legitimate friends instead of holding them at arm's length. It would be such a good story to tell that gets to the heart of what is special about the Horde, how everyone is welcome if they want to do better

@Portergauge You can't cleanly bring her back into the fold but Blizzard constantly uses moral contrivances, like everything around the Silver Covenant and Anasterion, I want them to use it to find a way to bring my girl back

@Portergauge Imagine if he's come to the decision that the blue crystal, fel-less elves are lame and instead became a Nightborneaboo

@Portergauge It's also hard to feel like an outcast that the world is against on a path of redemption when no one is outcasting you. Hell, Before the Storm indicated that only some Forsaken are literally Forsaken and the alliance leadership is sympathetic to them despite, ya know, Wrath Gate

@Portergauge I really wish they kept the Kirin Tor solid alliance after what happened. The Horde having to try to build a rival organization would have led in interesting directions and would have been Horde creating their own culture and significance rather than borrowing the Alliance's

Just realized while replaying the campaign that the ghosts from the Purge of Dalaran have ice shards embedded in their chest. I guess that finally puts to bed the “Jaina was just bugged, she didn’t kill anyone!” reasoning after all these years lol

@huntress_ali WoW kingdoms feel like small sports teams and not massive groups of people with diverse opinions, prejudices that are bad but nuanced, and groups that will be deeply unhappy about sudden changes to the status quo

@huntress_ali Still love when FFXIV did this and ended up having it explode in the kid's face because he did not, in fact, know best despite his ideals and he didn't properly account for the human element in the people he tried to unite

Arator is so cringe inducing, I am sorry. Im tired of the trope of the young 'wise beyond his years' char coming in to lecture all the stubborn all fools how things should be. As if they got no good reason for the way they act. This trope is overdone to death, it needs to die.

I am very glad that it doesn't seem like the Silver Covenant/Sunreaver conflict is being dropped immediately, but it's just so weird that of all people *Anasterian* is the one they chose as some unifying force lol

@_bukimi @eternalseething @valarynn @that_kind_oforc I think they'd need something to elevate them. Like, dramatic increase in some kind of cosmological power, or next level necromancy power. Malfurion is a literal force of nature and so was Tyrande. The Forsaken should have something as impressive, but just don't anymore

If the Voidwell is fixed before the VERY end of the launch patch, it is a collosal failure of stakes, investment and scope. Taking back the sunwell should not be the same plot beat as fixing the thing. Your xpac premise should not be a 3 week story.
Grox@that_kind_oforc

It is written and rushed past like someone needed to tick a box. This is not earned, deserved or set up in any way to have any depth, emotional resonance or pay off. Genuinely who the fuck was this for and for what purpose? To say nothing of the Dawnwell bullshit coming up

@_bukimi @eternalseething @valarynn @that_kind_oforc Of course, she feels like she fills them in a bad, boring way that conflicts with the fantasy. But Voss or Belmont feel like they should be second fiddles and absolutely do not have Forsaken faction leader level of juice So we can have bad or boring I guess

@_bukimi @eternalseething @valarynn @that_kind_oforc I feel like a problem is that Callia would be the only leader who can fill Sylvs' shoes. Anyone else would feel like they got they're there was no one else and would be a direct downgrade from Sylvanas' presence I feel like the Forsaken lead should be a little larger than life

@Tomb_Dancer @Portergauge People with shallow social mindsets write bad stories, yes, no matter the medium. Many such cases, including 2000s Blizzard People with no social mindsets don't write stories in general because stories are fundamentally related to social dynamics, even their absence

@PersonBrop @Portergauge One success among multitudes of "woke" failures means very little. Belittling it down to simply being bad obfuscates the idea that people of that social mindset simply are bad at writing stories for the masses(i.e., MMOs), which is my original point. One issue leads to the other.

@Tomb_Dancer @Portergauge Disco Elysium is one of the most woke games ever created and it has none of these issues and in fact has one of the most intriguing worlds and plots in video games Unless by woke you mean "socially conscious in a bad way," which, yes, when something is bad, then it is bad

@Portergauge Perhaps those are related issues? One causes the other, perhaps? 😅

@Krexxal Cairne was the first to take pity on Sylvanas and let in the Forsaken. There's a lot of mileage that can be had with Baine taking the role of overseeing her rehabilitation. There's not a whole lot else left that's fertile for compelling storytelling

@Krexxal I think the rehabilitation of Sylvanas within the Horde, even as a civilian, where the other races and leaders have antagonistic or caring relationships with her and everything in between, would he FASCINATING and get back to the faction's pre-Garrosh themes

How would you bring the factions back into a cold war state Ala Vanilla/BC/Wrath without major retcons, having the Horde be villains, or beginning the Fifth War?

@Krexxal And the Alliance would be perfectly understandable in wanting to explode all of that and bring her back to the Maw. I don't think there'd be a clear right or wrong, which is perfect for faction storytelling
