@JohnOliverDunn @englandcricket No, no. His bowling strike rate. And it’s not ‘new’ or ‘irrelevant’. He’s an all rounder filling a gap for the good of the team. It’s not ideal but it’s also not unreasonable.

@StocksC_cricket Well put. 7 of the current Aussie team were playing in that Cape Town test in 2018. We’ve been told that the culture has been changing and the documentary “The Test” tried very hard to convince us. But for me personally, that stumping stirs up some of those 2018 emotions.

The disconnect between the majority view in England and Australia over the Bairstow incident is remarkable. Massive overreaction in this country but total lack of awareness from Australians that their team's actions in Cape Town five years ago still frames this narrative.
