I’ve noticed an interesting shift happening over the past couple of years.
The theory of reciprocity seems to be abundantly relevant recently: the good old you do something for someone, they want to return the favor.
This shows us that we don’t need to be so narrowly focused on the product itself to become appealing or relevant. There's more we can do. What extra value can we provide? This is a question we should ALWAYS be asking.
Consumers are demanding value outside of the products and services we show in our ads. Let’s show them we are listening by creating value and offering an idea or solution that has a lasting positive impact on the individual.

Can we please stop insulting our key audiences?
No matter how much we might think or want to believe it, rational thought and emotion are NOT separate.
When was the last time you made a decision without both logical thinking and emotion? My guess is rarely and if you did, it probably wasn’t your best decision.
Consumers are no different. Spending any amount of money IS a big deal. It’s why we spend a large amount of time trying to convince and persuade consumers to consider this product over that one.
People make purchasing decisions with thought AND emotion. Consumers are smart. Let’s make sure we are treating them so and appealing to their logical AND emotional side. The results will come.
So let's stop trying to separate the two.
