Last night I spent a shift with a @metpoliceuk ERPT team dealing with 999 calls. It is impossible to explain just how surreal an experience being out with these officers is, the officers are exposed to situations no one should see. Here are my notes from the opening two hours.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan repeatedly refused to apologise to a Met firearms officer acquitted of Chris Kaba's murder. Kaba was shot dead by Sergeant Martyn Blake as he tried to ram his car past police cars during a police stop in Streatham in September 2022. London Assembly member Susan Hall put Khan under pressure saying he should apologise for not being balanced enough in his support to the officer and his family following murder trial and public reaction. During the heated exchange the Met Commissioner confirmed Kaba had been a 'core member' of the notorious '67 gang' in Brixton Hill, information which had not been released to the public while the trial was ongoing.
