The northern white rhino population didn’t disappear because it failed to adapt. Only two remain in the world today because of us. Poaching is a human-made threat, and one that’s tearing apart far more than just one species.

Sudan’s story isn’t over. We’re making sure of it. Eight years ago today, we said goodbye to Sudan, the last male northern white rhino. His absence is still deeply felt here at Ol Pejeta, but his legacy continues to shape everything we do. Thread 👇

She is settling well and, at this stage, we expect her to be okay in her new family. Moments like these remind us why rapid response and skilled teamwork are so important for wildlife survival. Photo: Salim Kwoba / Ol Pejeta

We’re relieved to share that a surrogate mare has taken her in, allowing the young foal the best possible chance to grow up naturally within a wild herd.

At Ol Pejeta, every life matters. Last week, our vet team responded to reports of a two-month-old zebra foal found stranded and alone. After carefully capturing and collecting her, the team transported her to a nearby zebra herd in the hope she might be accepted. Thread 👇

Our ranger and vet teams recently responded to reports of two elephants on the conservancy with injuries to their legs. Working quickly on the ground, and with vital support from the @KWSKenya vet team, both elephants were treated and are now expected to make a full recovery👇
