Edwards and Hughes decided to blow up the wage structure by putting Cody Gakpo on £250K per week and Ryan Gravenberch on £280K per week. They also signed Isak and Wirtz and gave them high salaries. Ibrahima Konaté requested £200K per week but they refused. What do Gakpo or Gravenberch offer that is better than Ibrahima Konaté? I'm not saying that Ibrahima Konaté is a world-class defender or that he deserves to be on £200K per week. I'm simply trying to point out that once you start paying some players abnormal salaries, be ready to do the same for other players. Curtis Jones is currently on the verge of leaving because he’s also demanding an unreasonable salary after seeing his teammates get undeserved wages.
