I loved working on this feature. I was so inspired by Tsgabu Grmay's journey and the Team Amani project. 'People said it was impossible', Tsgabu Grmay on racing the Tour de France, building Team Amani and dreaming big veloracycling.com/features/tsgab…

@lukascph Interesting! Glasenberg of Q36.5 also up there – $14b net worth... Guessing there are probably nearly a dozen billionaires around the sport.

@PeterStuart3 Don't sleep on the Reitan family (behind Uno-X). Apparently 9 billion net worth (but spread across several people).

Jim Ratcliffe dips to 9th wealthiest person in the UK in the Sunday Times Richlist revealed today. By my measure still the wealthiest man in cycling. Though who knows how long Ineos will stay in the sport..

Thanks to Tim Bonville-Ginn for featuring me in this opinion piece on the 🇧🇬 #GirodItalia Grande Partenza. I've long held the belief that such a one-time visit isn't sustainable in any of the ways you could measure it. Build your own stage race instead! veloracycling.com/features/giro-…

For pretty much no reason, we designed a parody game playing on the current road safety issues in cycling. It's called The Feed Zone, and you play a soigneur trying to get bidons to your riders. If you get struck by one of the excessive number of race vehicles, the UCI takes swift action. (It's parody, pls don't sue us...) veloracycling.com/games/feed-zone

I followed the last cyclocross season closer than any other. It reminded me of how engaging, unpredictable and fan-friendly the sport is by nature. At the same time, we saw Wout van Aert wiped out by a crash, Fem van Empel retire altogether, Tom Pidcock skip the season, and Van der Poel heavily rumoured to be treating the season as his last. Cyclocross is a captivating sport but suffers two major pressures – stars whose financial focus is on the road, raising the risk of burnout from competing in successive CX races, and a lack of global visibility. The Winter Olympics could have maybe helped to solve both. With greater visibility, stars like Pidcock, Van Aert and Van der Poel could more justify the split in season focus to complete a full cyclocross season, while an Olympic dream could also fuel greater strength-in-depth with a generation of would-be Olympians. My personal reaction to the rigid snow and ice exclusion, also, is that the sport is often run on snow, and that would have made a fantastic requirement for the Winter Olympic course. The exclusion is a loss for cycling, and for the Winter Olympics. . Photo: Alex Whitehead/SWpix Read the full story below: veloracycling.com/news/cyclocros…

There seems to be a European-wide trend of free-to-air cycling shrinking, which I think is really worrying for the sport. Conversely, though, there is now masses of free coverage across social media of major races. I'd question how easy it is for a newcomer to the sport to be engaged and pulled into the sport through successive 10-30 second clips without the wider context of racing. The massive disparity in cost from region to region has also very likely encouraged both piracy of cycling coverage, and no doubt a huge amount of VPN usage to access broadcasts in cheaper territories. Generally I really hope that the trend reverses, and we begin to see cycling return to free channels.

This leaked Lego road bike circulating Lego fandom set is something I would 1000% buy, but it seems so niche I can't help thinking it may be AI generated... Can anyone confirm if it's real? 👀

Mads Pedersen’s promo video for Santini is like a ‘90s power ballad music video that went way too hard.
