@brady_h @JohnAllenBain I think it’s safe to say 5 mins in hot bath and 15 mins in sauna with aveHR of 72 wouldn’t be too much of a “stressor”, you’d need to stay in there for a little longer for that!

@JohnAllenBain I have and I certainly recognize that heat is not just a benign “recovery” modality. You can overdo it like anything. So per my post, this wasn’t a true “off day.” I’d try to limit heat on a day where I was looking for true recovery.

No formal training for me today. Not an “off day” either. Went to the gym for my recovery protocol: 3 rounds of: - 5” hot tub - 15” sauna - 5” swim

@brady_h I also think Hyrox doesn’t really have a true strength component to it, sled maybe but I would consider hyrox quite endurance focused. If you’re a good runner and lift a little you’ll probably do pretty well

@brady_h I’d say those expectations are a little high… @brady_h - that’s akin to saying you can’t call yourself a runner (which is a type of athlete) unless you’re within a certain percentile. When people say hybrid, they just mean they care equally about endurance and strength/size

@brady_h @brady_h I think you have a summarised the wrong review - this info is not from our recent review. We did not model thermal Impulse, exercise intensity or compare to passive heat acclimation… We would be happy to help you draft a summary of our key findings @DrJPeriard

@Petermc8 @DrJPeriard @_HarryBrown2 @UC_RISE @EnvPhysiolLab yes - and I now see you also discuss this, but very time demanding to do the prolonged HA-studies and we use the home-based to allow athletes to incorporate for prolonged periods - my take is the Hb-mass effect levels off after 3-5 weeks exposure

@DrJPeriard @Petermc8 @_HarryBrown2 @UC_RISE @EnvPhysiolLab oh I now see it is in refs - but not in included studies (so you don't include studies were part of HA is in clothing. For the BV/Hb-mass effect pooling all data does not make sense as there is a clear duration effect (less than 2 weeks vs 3-5 week - similar to altitude)

Finally got around to incorporating all Github feedback on my open access textbook, making around 20 minor improvements, and updating some references. 17 chapters of state of the art stats and methods education, freely available for any course you teach. lakens.github.io/statistical_in…

🚨Heat Training Survey🚨 Massive thanks to @CASESsocial for putting the word out regarding my PhD survey! If you’re a practitioner prescribing heat training for national to elite level athletes, we’d love to hear from you! 🔥🏃‍♂️🏆 Please share to get the word out 🙏👇
CASES@CASESsocial

We have been made aware of a survey investigating current heat acclimation and heat acclimatisation practices within high-performance sport. If this sounds like something you would be interested in completing, please head to the link to find out more: bit.ly/43RDgtv

Hot take. We’ve got to stop using the term “longevity doctor.” Longevity expert is fine. This would be somebody conducting scientific research in the field of aging. But as far as I’m concerned, there’s not a doctor (or anyone for that matter) on earth who has significantly increased human lifespan beyond what we know to be possible. Nor does anyone really have sufficient data to prove that they are effective in doing so at the individual level.
