@PEU is shocked and saddened by the untimely of #AdvGeorgeBizos. We deep our burner, as we join the nation in mourning this gallant fighter, renowned human rights Lawyer, Author and finest legal minds. May his family and friends be comforted. May his soul get eternal peace.

@PEU enjoins all teachers to refrain from meting #corporalpunishment to learners. The action contravenes @SACE' Code of Professional Ethics and @Section10ofSASA.

#PEU welcomes the move by majority of our #ProvincialEducationDepartments, in their proactiveness to exclude @GradeR from reopening schools, as @DBE remains scratching the surface to find the nation, compelling reasons for their obsession with the young kids.

The Professional Educators' union is noting with concern that the much vouched medical and scientific knowldge that children are unlikely to die from COVID-19 is gradually proving to be mythical as many children are forming part of our stats on fatalities.

The Professional Educators ' Education #PEU welcomes the move by KZN and Limpopo to exclude grade R from cohort of learners to reopen on 06July 2020. We urge other Province to follow suit in the interest of these innocent children.

If ever survey results drawn from a sample of School Principals across the country is anything to go by, then the second phasing-in of schools reopening on 06 July 2020, will just be a wish-list, as majority of Provinces will not be ready by that time.

Reports that some school principals don't report cases of #COVID-19 infection, for fear of stigmatization , are not only bordering on gross dereliction of duty but treasonous,as most teachers and learners will be susceptible to infection, as such schools remain decontaminated.

The Professional Educators' Union is noting with concern that second phasing in of reopening of schools, scheduled for 06 July 2020 comes amid flaring COVID-19 infection rate, that has finally thrust the country into a calamitous and decimating storm.

Issues of COVID-19 compliance in schools should never be a once off matter. Thus, teachers strongly urged to be forever vigilant to ensure that all the necessary safety measures are strictly adhered to at all material times.

#PEU is placing on record that no one has been given permission to use its name to brand and sell #facemasks and further discourages any of its leadership structures and the general membership from such distance themselves from unscrupulous profit making tendencies.

PEU echoes and amplifies the call by other teacher unions, in discouraging the selling and wearing branded face masks at schools as it is the obligation of the employer to provide each teacher and

Whilst PEU encourages and appreciates any ingenuity and innovation geared towards the fight and prevention of the spread of the pandemic, we equall feel that the wearing of union branded face masks will perpetuate animosity in our staffrooms and divert our main focus as teachers

#PEU condemns the selling of branded face masks bearing name of any of the teacher Unions, as that goes against the letter and spirit of our unity of purpose and further diminishes our common obligatory mandate to serve the intests and aspirations of our respective members.
