Alberta and Saskatchewan are distinct, complex, and essential to Canada’s future. Ignoring that, and failing to grasp the economic and cultural realities that define this region, comes at a cost. If the federal NDP is serious about rebuilding trust in Alberta and Saskatchewan, its leadership must be grounded in respect for the people, industries, and communities that make the Prairies and Canada thrive.

@BecomingKelsey It was apparent from early days that Trudeau was going to be a disaster, yet he kept getting votes, I'll never understand that.
Carney has taken some CPC ideas, perhaps that has increased his popularity. I'm worried that he's too much of a climate alarmist to run things now.

A lot can change in the coming years, but right now it looks like as long as Poilievre is the leader of the Conservatives (post-Trudeau), they will never recover. He and his most devoted supporters have poisoned the party by embracing far-right, MapleMAGA politics.

@SpencerFernando The Libs were so far left under Trudeau that the centrist CPC were made to look "far right". The reality is that the CPC is the most centrist party in Canada, the Libs are still to beholden to climate alarmists and progressives to be considered centrist.

With polls currently showing a large plurality of Canadians rallying behind the centrist Liberal Government led by Prime Minister Mark Carney, both the NDP and Conservatives face the challenge of deciding whether to also shift towards the centre, or to bet on base motivation.
Today, the federal NDP has bet its survival on energizing its base through a shift to the left by electing filmmaker and activist Avi Lewis as their next leader.
