@motokomakima @Schrodingersba4 Unless it's a Keighley event, State of Plays typically draw in the biggest viewerships. Other factors can influence where something will show up though: marketing deals, best schedule fit, price for inclusion (or paid for it), etc.

@Schrodingersba4 Dropping a trailer at this SoP and not the SGF when the events are days apart and SGF will have a vastly bigger audience, including more Xbox and Nintendo fans they are trying to showcase the game to, seems like silly idea from SE if i’m honest

@mrpyo1 We're 2 years out of the Jim Ryan era, with a lot of the GaaS titles canceled by end of 2023 & 2024. They're still trying to right the ship & games take a while to make, but at some point, whatever games they've shifted to since will have to appear. We could start seeing some now

Even if half of the stuff floating around about the next state of play is true then this is definitely a high end E3 like event. I think Sony really wants to enter phase 2 with their load

@Duretum @PlayStation 1. Nobody said this was innovative, just them applying HD-2D graphics to an action RPG 2. If you're looking for games that push Square's limits, they've been under a 3yr business restructuring plan to make higher quality AAA output. It's not up until sometime next year

@PlayStation Another Square Enix ARPG that looks exactly like the last five. Same menus, same combat floatiness, same 'Millennium' naming convention. Why are we still pretending this is 'innovative' instead of just a generic anime-trope factory?

@GoodGameKofi @ItsNewYokio I think the thing to consider here is this is a multiplayer game that needs a big audience (Sony still plans to being those). Even with console exclusives, XB really saw it's hardware footprint drop when it went day & date. Sony isn't trying to become a software company like MS

@mrpyo1 Without the fighting, it's a total playground with something incredible around every corner. That was my experience when I went, too

Being in Japan is like playing the Yakuza games for me, outside of not fighting people in the streets

@GameKing89 @JayDubcity16 Paying for online sucks, but otherwise the overall ecosystem is fine. Price increases are universal right now, arguably more for individual PC components (particularly memory). Saros is a great game, but Returnal had modest sales and this was more of that.

Its hilarious that Playstation gamers think they won anything. lol Their console prices keep going up, their online services just went up in price, and they have like what? 4 games coming out? 3? Saros flopped. PC is bigger than ever, with a library multiple times bigger than PS5. Multiplayer PS titles still coming to PC. Its just weird man.

@Guy1232123 @pcgamer The CEO did lose his job, Jim Ryan (who fumbled the gen on live service games) got pushed out in 2024. They had a temp CEO (Hiroki Totoki, who moved up to run all of Sony) for a little under a year, then 2 co-CEOs, before eventually settling on one, Hideaki Nishino, last year

@mrpyo1 I definitely think they've been heading in a better direction with Jim out of the way. That said, Shu is on record saying that the GaaS push came from Sony upper leadership & PS was given funding under the condition he greenlit so many GaaS games. Seems like a bad spot to be in

Playstation might be going into a better direction: - Seems they want to bring back old IPS - More focus on single player games - Less focus on GAAS games - Japanese leadership - Real exclusives - Stopped the mobile push they had
