My husband and I used to work at the same company, fully remote. No one at work knew we were married because we wanted to keep things simple and professional. A few months ago, he was laid off due to performance reasons. At first, we stayed hopeful and believed he would find something else soon. But the longer he stayed unemployed, the more things started changing between us. One night, he told me that if I truly loved him, I should quit my job too so we could both be “on the same level.” I was shocked and refused. Then things got worse. Our families got involved, and I was told that I should give him my entire salary until he “finds himself again.” I refused to do that as well. Now his family is calling me a bad person and saying I’m not a supportive wife. Am I wrong for not giving my husband my salary?
