Drake Maye is asked about not being afraid of targeting Christian Gonzalez: “I’m the type that wants to go over there and challenge him.” AJ Brown, Kayshon Boutte and Pop Douglas all had catches today with Gonzalez as the closest in coverage. Gonzalez got him at the end. ⬇️

Good news/bad news day for the Patriots offense. Good day for Drake Maye. Went 12-for-13 in team periods. Threw a red-zone pick to Christian Gonzalez. Throwaway attempt. Blitzers in his face. Bad news? What felt like a blitz-heavy day for the “D” led to multiple free runners.

Morgan Moses management day today. Alijah Vera-Tucker was also limited in what looked like a load-management situation for him, too. Caleb Lomu was the top right tackle today with Moses off. Ben Brown and Andrew Rupcich rotating in on the interior.

Kyle Williams did see some work with the Drake Maye-led offense today. But his two highlight-reel TDs came from Tommy DeVito. Efton Chism also made a twisting, leaping grab on a DeVito throw for a touchdown. Celebrated with teammates and then Vrabel as he ran off the field.

Another day, another practice with first team reps for undrafted rookie tight end Tanner Arkin. Notched up an impact block on Dre’Mont Jones that opened things up for Rhamondre Stevenson to get the edge on his way to the end zone.

Drake Maye was 4-for-5 in 11-on-11s targeting AJ Brown today. Hit him late on a slant for a touchdown with Charles Woods in coverage. Lone incompletion was the first team snap of the practice. Deep ball with Christian Gonzalez tight in coverage. Ball sailed out of bounds.

Gonzalez made maybe the best play of any defensive back in the 1-on-1 red zone period, taking the first two against AJ Brown and breaking up a slant at the goal line. He was fired up. Brown later beat Gonzalez to the corner for a score. Fine coverage. Great ball from Drake Maye.

Patriots practice wrapping up now. Christian Gonzalez participated quite a bit in the fully-padded competitive 11-on-11 periods. Looked like he was on a two-plays-at-a-time plan. Some bumping and jostling. Didn’t shy away from contact in low red zone on an AJ Brown catch.
