📝📝 FULL LICENSE GRANTED 📝📝
For a football club to compete in Step 4 of the National League System, it must hold an active Club Licence and achieve a specific ground grading set by The FA.
Clubs must maintain strict stadium standards, financial viability, and governance criteria to satisfy the competition’s rules.
We are delighted to confirm that once again we have been granted a full license with no conditions or additional actions to complete.
Bring on the 2026/27 season!

Club Statement | 6th May 2026

Brighouse Town AFC has taken the decision to request a realignment in the non-league football structure and return to playing at an amateur level at Step 7 of the Football League Non-league pyramid.
The hope is to be accepted into the West Yorkshire Association Football League. Dialogue has already begun with the management committee of this league and there has been a very positive response and reaction to our plans. We have notified the Northern Premier League and the FA of our decision and await guidance on the formal process to enable this to happen.
This is decision hasn’t been taken lightly but affords the men’s senior team a reset and a chance to re-establish itself and grow once again.
The Club takes great pride in its rise from the former West Riding County Amateur League in 2008 to the Northern Counties League First Division and then gaining promotion to the Northern Counties Premier League in 2010. Promotion to the Northern Premier League – step 4 of the Non-League Football Pyramid was gained in 2014 where it has remained up until this season. We have often said we felt we were batting above our station, but we have had a great ride and some fantastic memories and friendships made.
Spiralling wage, travel, infra-structure and administrative costs along with the loss of key experience at a senior level have caused a strategic re-appraisal and need for re-alignment.
Mark Booth has stepped forward to take the role of Chairperson of the whole club, and he will be ably assisted by Julian Prior as Secretary along with existing members of the Club’s committee. The Junior and Women’s sections are unaffected and continue to grow, and this decision will allow the whole club the chance to move forward as a united entity.
Although this is the end of one era, it is the start of a new one. We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to our supporters, volunteers, and partners for their continued backing. We hope you will remain with us on this journey as we build the next chapter of Brighouse Town AFC and continue to provide a football hub that the town can be proud of.
Brighouse Town AFC Executive Committee.

Saturday hurt. No hiding from that. It was our heaviest defeat in 20 years and our heaviest home defeat in 33 years. We know many of you paid £10 to watch it. That isn’t lost on us.
The Consett game has already been postponed twice, both very late on. So we want to try and give something back and get as many of you through the gate as possible.
For Tuesday 3rd March at Woodhorn Lane against Consett, it will be pay what you feel at the gate.
If you’re able to give, thank you. If you’re not, just come and back the lads and enjoy the game. We need you there.
In addition, all season ticket holders will receive a drinks token at the turnstile to redeem at the bar as a thank you for sticking with us.
Thank you as ever for your support. Without it, we wouldn’t be here.

@Ashington_FC Another brilliant report Brian. I always find your reports balanced and well considered… unlike some of our opponents who can be guilty of emotional reports with a spartan lack of facts!

@Ashington_FC As Scott is brilliant at maintaining the pitch I have no doubt the pitch will be given the best opportunity to be playable…… wish I could say the same about some of our match officials

🗓️🗓️ NEXT MATCH 🗓️🗓️
Following the disappointment of last night's postponement, we are due to be back at Woodhorn Lane this coming Saturday with Emley AFC our visitors.
We will be monitoring the weather throughout the week whilst also maintaining the pitch as best we to ensure the game has the best chance of going ahead and to keep everyone informed should a pitch inspection be required.
Online tickets are available for this fixture as always:

@NE63GAV @Ashington_FC So when he’s standing right next to them , and they’re not covered in mud they’re fine …. You’ve just convinced me he was a bampot!

@PhilLoudon @Ashington_FC He compared them in the dressing rooms and deemed there was enough of a difference in the shade of blue.
