1/9 I have no problem with reasonable initiatives to help people feel reasonably safe. There are behaviours below that certainly need attention but when police focus on women FEELING safe, based on behaviours like passing cars beeping, whilst neglecting men BEING safe…

@PhilMitchell83 We need to normalize consent as a conversation. Both parties need to take responsibility for what’s happening. Communicate what working & doesn’t.

We need to stop judging the demographic of men based on the minority of them being powerful & perpetrators, & start judging them based on the much larger number being providers & protectors

So much discussion recently linking misogyny to harm against women Where there is a clear link, this should be examined further, & at the same time we put much less effort into examine how misandry influences harm against men because society cares much less about men

I wonder if we’d be as likely to see @spectator making a similar statement about women or any other demographic based on the harm the minority of them perpetrate? Another day another double standard in our misandrist society

One reason certain allegations of sexual assaults happen is poor communication: Partner A does not want to continue but doesn’t clearly communicate this. Partner B thinks consent was present because a lack of consent was not clear. Does this mean consent was present? Thoughts?

Many men run & help women when they seem them being hassled Whilst society & environmental factors influence these actions, so does instinct & biological factors It’s not that men “should” do this; it’s just that many naturally will because it feels instinctively right

@PhilMitchell83 I occasionally work at a local school and "toxic masculinity" is highlighted as a concern in the safeguarding training. It's considered a high priority to "tackle". I'm confident if I challenged it I'd be let go on the spot.

@xevekiah Legally speaking that’s because rape is often defined by being perpetrated by a penis. When you look at sexual offences against men overall, certain datasets & timeframes show male victims reporting mainly female perpetrators 👇
Phil Mitchell:Specialist Working With Abused Males@PhilMitchell83

7/11 ... In the 12 months before the survey, 70.5% of male victims of unwanted sexual contact reported only female perpetrators and 26.1% reported only male perpetrators"

6/6 "We found female parents to report a significantly higher prevalence in having used at least one form of EP than male parents and on the items “yelled at child” and “ignored child”"
