@UTCInAllDepts It’s certainly a worry, if nothing happens with the stadium I could see the ownership group walking away

@Sathish12369 There’s a totally reasonable explanation. It’s Jay Shah’s world. We’re just living in it.

Jordan Henderson starting for England in 2026 and less than 3 months before a World Cup is a damning indictment of England’s midfield depth

@sportsmadme @FreyaWoods8 He was awesome in Pakistan in the series win, no doubt the most talented English bowler but won’t be back in with the trust issues

@CricketFanBob Criticism of McCullum is criticism of rob key, we would be in a better place with harmy in the setup, knows the county game really well as well

@sarkarstix He’s the CEO of his own game and values the England shirt. All players make decisions to benefit them personally an he’s done the same, just a lot of twitter warriors when you don’t worship daddy India and the IPL

Ben Duckett’s last-minute withdrawal from the IPL is not just a “difficult personal decision,” it’s a serious breach of professional commitment that undermines the very structure of franchise cricket. When a player enters the IPL auction and is picked by a franchise like Delhi Capitals, it sets off months of planning, strategy, and resource allocation. Pulling out at the eleventh hour disrupts team balance, forces last-minute scrambling, and disrespects both the franchise and its fanbase. Yes, international cricket is important but that cannot become a convenient excuse to walk away from signed contracts whenever it suits individual priorities. If players are allowed to opt in and out of the IPL at will, it sets a dangerous precedent that weakens the league’s credibility and operational integrity. The IPL and BCCI must take a firm, uncompromising stance here. This isn’t just about one player, it’s about protecting the sanctity of the tournament. A strong deterrent is essential: a multi-year ban from the IPL, and serious consideration of restricting participation in bilateral series involving India, must be on the table. Professional sport runs on accountability. You cannot enjoy the benefits of the IPL ecosystem and then abandon your obligations without facing consequences. If the league wants to maintain its global stature, such actions cannot go unpunished.

Curious one is Jamie Smith. Unbelievable start to his test career but back end of the India series and Ashes he was terrible. Definitely James Rew and probably Jordan Cox will be right after his spot. God I’m buzzing for the County Championship to start, so much to keep an eye on

#afcb So we're led to believe that Andoni is on the wanted list of Crystal Palace to be their next head coach. I know he might leave us in the summer but this move is unlikely to be on many bingo cards. Cartoon AI is not real. Our AI very much is and he won't choose to go there.

This has got to be the least surprising cricket news of the year. It’s almost not worth commenting on. Except for one thing — what message does it send? That failure doesn’t matter? That actions don’t have consequences? The ECB has got this decision wrong. Key and McCullum have outstayed their welcome. It’s high time to move on.
Test Match Special@bbctms

Sacking head coach Brendon McCullum would have been ”the easy thing to do” according to England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive Richard Gould. McCullum, director of cricket Rob Key and Test captain Ben Stokes are all set to remain in their posts despite the 4-1 Test defeat in the Ashes.

@UtdDistrict The Cunha penalty was not reviewed, Amad’s didn’t get a check. The one against United didn’t take a minute to stand with the on-field decision. So where did that 9minutes come from. The ref should be suspended.

No Watkins, Trent, Shaw. Maguire, Mainoo, Calvert-Lewin, Solanke, Tomori return. Steele, Garner called up. Very significant squad, 35 names, World Cup 26 comes from this. #ENG
