10 Reasons why the WNBA sucks. I do not see an avenue for the WNBA to be a profitable & widely popular league for another 20~30 years. Here are the WNBA's challenges 1. They are a relatively new league. 27 years in. The NBA in 1973 was not what it was in the 80s, 90s, or today. 2. The league has alienated half the country but choosing to be a machine for the Democrat Party and progressive agendas. Take emotion out of it, this is the logical reality of everything they do. Thus, you eliminated a large demographic. Sports is our escape from the real world. Politics have no place in sports. 3. Either the league stinks at marketing its players, or the league has no likable players to a wider demographic. The only time I hear from WNBA players in the media is when they are complaining about something, giving a political take, or suggesting that they are being abused because they do not have the same amenities that the men in the NBA have, despite not earning those amenities like the men did over decades of sacrifices and hard work. 4. The players stink at marketing themselves. I constantly hear of NBA shows trying to get WNBA players on. They are often rejected without reason. Screams laziness. The first mega WNBA star will be everywhere. On every show. Paid or unpaid. Wait n see. 5. The constant comparison to the men's game by the media does not help at all. The WNBA needs to do a better job at educating the masses on how the game is progressing. How is the modern player better than a player in the early 2000s? How do stats compare? 6. The WNBA sucks at building storylines. I do not know who is a rival with who. Who is the villain? Who is the hero? David Stern was a master at this. 7. Being owned by the NBA is a double edged sword. The WNBA is in the summer so it doesn't compete with the NBA. 8. Feminists do not support the WNBA. Women do not support the WNBA. 167.5M women in America. The WNBA should have sold out games every game. There should be more eye balls on the game. Most people would rather complain on Twitter. I have purchased 2 WNBA shirts and 1 WNBA hoodie. How many can say the same? 9. The media is too scared to cover the game fairly. Skip Bayless has made a career out of hating on LeBron James. If he did the same to a WNBA player, he'd be fired. The media has to walk on egg shells when covering the WNBA out of fear of sexism claims and cancelation. 10. The product is not great, yet. The NBA product was not great in the 70s compared to where it is today. The WNBA needs time to evolve its game and improve the skill of its players. We watch the NBA to see men do things that we'd never be able to do, despite playing the game everyday since we were kids. It's remarkable, fascinating, and simply amazing. That aura or magic is not felt when consuming the WNBA product. Some say they need to lower the rims. I think the game will naturally evolve like the NBA did. The WNBA is on an upward trajectory. If given enough time, it will become a much more popular league. However, ignoring these points will only slow down their progress. P.S I know the title of the of the tweet is harsh. However, I say it with a vested interest in seeing the league flourish. RIP Kobe, RIP GiGi. Do you agree or disagree with these points? What is your take?
