@RodDMartin @SB30Bio @Kasparov63 The NATO intervention in LIbya was authorized by UN Security Council Resolution 1973. The action in Serbia was necessary to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Kosovo. The Independent International Commission deemed it "illegal but legitimate."
English

@PhilipGrayBooks @SB30Bio @Kasparov63 Their wars against Serbia and Libya were illegal, but you didn't care about that, and you didn't care that we helped them.

Note the underlying stupidity behind these threats. US bases and troops around the world are there for US global force projection, not to protect Spain or Italy or whatever he thinks. America’s enemies would love it if he picked up his toys and went home.
The Bulwark@BulwarkOnline
Q: "You talked about possibly pulling out some troops of Germany. Would you be considering the same thing for Spain and Italy?" Trump: "I probably will…Italy has not been of any help to us and Spain has been horrible."
English

@SB30Bio @Kasparov63 They declined to let bases be used for an illegal attack on Iran, because they care about international law (law that kept the Strait of Hormuz open until now). They have never blocked use in legit operations.
They don't hate America. They don't care for Trump. Not the same.
English

@Kasparov63 That’s true, but Italy and Spain won’t let us use the bases, so there’s no point in having any association with them. Europeans deeply hate Americans and want us gone anyway.
English

@BohuslavskaKate Absolutely right. The shunning of Ukraine and the accommodation of Putin's Russia has done more to blacken America's name than any single act of US foreign policy since Vietnam.
English

REP. ADAM SMITH: We roll out red carpet for Putin, we belittle and insult President Zelenskyy in White House — he has no cards, right?
Well, year after that, it looks like Zelenskyy had couple of cards to play because Ukraine is actually winning against Russia.
Ukraine, a sovereign democracy standing up against a brutal, oppressive, coercive dictatorship.
And we can't even bring ourselves on consistent basis to say we are with Ukraine, we are against what Putin is doing, and we stand up and support Ukraine.
English

@BohuslavskaKate In Europe, we are all Ukrainians now.
Not before time.
English

FRANCIS: Ukraine decided to absolutely ravage Russia’s oil export industry using its own long-range weapons. The best way to defeat Russia is to bankrupt it, and Ukrainians are onto this strategy.
The price per barrel has risen, but the number of barrels Russia can actually ship has gone down by about 50%. As a result, there’s no real windfall for Moscow.
Ukraine destroyed roughly half of Russia’s export capacity. This destruction is continuing, and Russians appear unable to stop it with their air defenses.

youtu.be/MlUPNIPERgw?si…
Ukraine is calling a spade a spade. Europe and the other western allies are not far behind. A year of stroking Trump's ego got them nothing.

@jmbprime Russia is a kleptocracy married to authoritarian dictatorship. Communism has long been abandoned, even as a distant ideal.
English

@DougWahl1 I'm surprised no US newspaper broke the story. That US broadcast media did not doesn't surprise me at all.
English

@7Veritas4 @ImBreckWorsham Which, if Trump has anything to do with it, will be few.
(Because nobody should enjoy life if he can't).
English

@RonFilipkowski @2catsanddog No, 24 wars because the wars had countries on both sides. So when you think about it...🤔
English

@BohuslavskaKate Expect and believe? Good luck with that while Trump is President.
English

STOLTENBERG: My country, Norway, borders Russia. Just on other side of our land border, we see highest concentration of nuclear weapons in the world: missiles, submarines, bombers. These weapons are not directed at Norway — they're directed at United States.
Yet Norway helps United States monitor and track those submarines, share intelligence, provide early warning, and report precisely what Russians are doing.
This is part of America’s homeland defense, delivered by a NATO ally. And there are many other similar examples.
So United States is safer with a strong NATO. That is why I expect and believe the United States will remain committed to the Alliance.
English

@RpsAgainstTrump The US is part of NATO and holds the top jobs.
Trump is just mad the other members didn't do what they were told, like vassels are supposed to.
English

@Bbmorg Yes, median income is a far better measure. And that's before you count things like life expectancy, educational attainment and crime rates, where the UK would top every state in the union.
English

@jamiedupree @aravosis India and much of Africa will face famine later this year of supplies of fertilizer are not restored soon. The bankruptcy of US farmers will be a minor tragedy next to mass starvation.
English

@peterbakernyt @fred_guttenberg Revived the debate? The debate was over a while ago. He's madder than a box of frogs.

A series of disjointed, hard-to-follow and sometimes-profane comments capped by threatening to wipe out Iran and attacking the pope have left many with the impression of a deranged autocrat mad with power and revived the debate about Trump's mental health. nytimes.com/2026/04/13/us/…
