@CharZiyanah I’ve said from day one I don’t want carrick long term. It made it hard to stick by that in the early games but each game that passes by now I feel justified. The board need to go all out to get a world class manager.

Carrick was in front of me for the majority of the game yesterday. I didn’t hear him once. He barely moved either. A lot of respect for Carrick as a club legend and also as a man. I grew up watching and admiring him and that’s not changed. But this isn’t the direction I want to go in and I say that with no disrespect. But the club comes first. It’s not the result. It’s not the way we crumbled yesterday. It’s the accumulating poor performances since the early promising spell against City and Arsenal and the feeling that we need a more experienced, alpha coach who is unafraid to assert himself and his style. Carrick’s time has seen us defending a lot better. But defending well and grinding out results is only good enough to see through the season. We need a manager, not a coach, to elevate this team.
