After a good earnings call, Six Flags is doubling down on regional passes, expanded live entertainment, and a Q2 maintenance ramp. The biggest drag is still leverage: net debt $5.27B at >6x debt-to-EBITDA vs Disney 2.4x, Comcast 2.8x, SeaWorld 4.2x, Merlin 3.9x. seasonalentertainmentsource.com/six-flags-q1-r…

Comcast's Q1 earnings call delivered good news almost across the board, and this week, Scott Swenson, ICAE, and I break down what it means for the theme parks division. Universal's theme park revenue was up 24%, driven mostly by Epic Universe doing exactly what it was supposed to do: increasing per-cap spending and length of stay across the entire Orlando resort. The one cloud on the horizon is Asia. Universal called out softening attendance in Osaka and Beijing, with China-related inbound travel pressure hitting Japan and a tougher macro environment in China. We dig into Universal Cool Japan, the 10-year-old programming slate that lets USJ rapidly overlay popular IPs like the upcoming Frieren walkthrough, and why leaning local is the right answer when international demand shrinks. Then we compare that nimble seasonal model to Universal Hollywood's FanFest Nights, the hard-ticket spring version of HHN that's leaning heavily on existing daytime IPs in year two, with One Piece and Sailor Moon doing the real work of pulling in new fans. youtu.be/r2hObAPItXo

Comcast’s latest earnings call showed Universal Parks surging 24% on momentum from Epic Universe, while improving broadband trends and Peacock’s path to profitability helped offset growing questions about international park softness and second-half travel demand. The team at USJ has repeatedly demonstrated how Universal Cool Japan can capture the cultural zeitgeist and leverage it to bring fans into the park, and this is a perfect example! Universal Studios Japan is bringing Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, one of the most acclaimed anime of the decade, into the park through a walkthrough attraction, a coaster audio overlay, and a fully themed restaurant beginning next month. The Manga has surpassed 30 million copies in circulation, and the anime is the highest-rated anime on MyAnimeList, and took home Best Director, Best Drama, Best Supporting Character, and Best Background Art at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. At its core, it is a story of self-discovery, and these three experiences fit perfectly with the park's 25th-anniversary "Discover U!!!" theme. They follow a year of significant additions that include the December 2024 opening of Donkey Kong Country inside SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, the July 2025 launch of Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast at Minion Park, and a January 2026 announcement that USJ and The Pokémon Company are planning future Pokémon experiences at the park. @KeithPrevite I actually like the idea of recreating iconic food from IPs they have (IE the Scooby Sandwich), but I take your point

Field of Screams (Mountville, PA) is opening its gates Saturday, May 2, for a Halfway to Halloween event built around a full-day music festival and two of its haunted attractions. The two haunts run from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Also new for 2026 is a Respawn Option, which lets guests go back through either haunted house for $5 per person.
