Can you believe its been a month+ since many saw accumulating snow? While some of us would like to say that its done, late March-April can always surprise us with 1 or 2 last gasps. The chart shows snow after 3/25 in Philly since 1885. Been quiet lately, but that could change...

As we are still swallowing this unprecedented March Heatwave and the abundance of RECORD HEAT it's far from over. The ridge reestablishes itself over the Southwest and Southern Plains for this week. Warmth will once again build into the Rockies and Corn Belt for the middle of this week (Wed/Thu) after a small eastern cooldown. The current pattern is not a very wet one for anyone here in the lower 48. There will be some moisture return ahead of the next front too with a SEVERE risk shaping up from MO to at least PA for Thursday. This is really an awful situation setting up. The ridge really keeps the deep Gulf moisture from getting into these fronts. We stay dry for huge parts of the lower 48 and the intense warmth dries the ground. There IS A CHANCE by the end of the month we start to break through that ridge and as systems come out of the Rockies they will be able to tap readily available Gulf moisture. This is a very important time of the year to get rainfall as trees and plants leaf out and crops are planted. Let's hope for a pattern change by months end. @PivotalWeather @weatherbell
