President Trump says the United States has defeated Iran
In a Truth Social post Trump declared Iran is totally defeated militarily economically and in every other way he claims Tehran now wants a deal but insists he would not accept one
The statement follows major US airstrikes on Irans Kharg Island a critical oil export hub which Trump described as one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East he said US forces obliterated military targets while sparing oil infrastructure for now
Trump also warned that any interference with shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would force the US to reconsider and announced multiple countries will send warships to keep the waterway open
Despite Trumps claims Iran continues to launch missile and drone attacks and its officials insist talks are off the table the war is now in its third week with no end in sight
