The brother of Mohammad Nazeer Paktiawal tells @camiloreports the last time he spoke to him, the 41-year-old Afghan father told him from ICE custody: “I’m not feeling well.” The next day, he says he got another call telling him his brother had died. Paktiawal had no known medical conditions or health issues, according to his brother, who believes he would still be alive had he not been arrested by ICE. Paktiawal, who had worked alongside U.S. forces in Afghanistan, died less than 24 hours after being detained in Texas. ICE says it is investigating his death, which comes as deaths of detainees in the agency’s custody continue to rise.
